Shipment Owner Onboarding and
How to Book a Shipment Document

What are the Shipment Owner's first steps after they register?

Most all shippers today use a freight broker to help move their freight and brokers charge up to 30-50% of the shipment cost to find carriers to move the load. LaneAxis takes a 1% transaction fee from the shipper and carrier on all shipments.

Recurring Lanes – All network carriers can bid on the lanes that the shippers post. This is the same for spot rate loads. Shippers can view all carriers that entered bids on the lane/load and check their performance score or add them in their network.

Some carrier bids may seem low - this can be for many reasons. For example, if a driver has delivered a load and is now on a backhaul he may bid low because it is an extra load from his perspective.

Adding Carriers in a Shipment Owner's Network

Shippers can add thousands of carriers in his network. It only helps the shipper to add carriers in his network. Adding carriers in his network will likely increase the number of quotes a shipper receives on his lanes and loads. Carriers will send direct connections to the shipper as well. A shipper can view that carriers performance and risk score or just add them in their network.

Creating a load from a recurring lane

After the shipper makes payment on the load (this only verifies the shipper has enough liquidity to cover the cost once the payment net terms in reached). The carrier then has to assign the load to one of his drivers. The driver will then complete the load on the mobile app. The carrier, shipper and driver can directly message each other on one thread for any questions, updates, problems that occur, etc.

Entire Shipment Flow Once a Load is Booked

After the shipper makes payment on the load (this only verifies the shipper has enough liquidity to cover the cost once the payment net terms in reached). The carrier then has to assign the load to one of his drivers. The driver will then complete the load on the mobile app. The carrier, shipper and driver can directly message each other on one thread for any questions, updates, problems that occur, etc.

How to Handle any Disputes, Etc.

If a shipper raises a dispute, LaneAxis will move the shipment to an offline arbitrator to handle the dispute. The agent will not be involved with this.

Risk Assessment

“Risk Assessment” is a process shippers use to make decisions for carriers in their network. Similar to credit score which you need to verify for accuracy, Risk Assessment is equally important to verify because it directly affects your freight access. Verify your score and be visible in the network.
